What’s the difference between soft washing and pressure washing?
Pressure washing uses mechanical force — thousands of PSI — and belongs on hard surfaces like concrete. Soft washing uses low pressure (think strong garden hose) plus a detergent that kills algae, mildew, and mold, and it is the correct method for siding, roofs, and painted surfaces. A good company owns both and knows which is which.
Can’t I just rent a machine and do it myself?
You can rinse dirt yourself. What the rental counter does not include is the chemistry that keeps growth from returning in six weeks, the technique that keeps 3,000 PSI from etching wood and cracking vinyl, and the insurance that covers the second-story ladder. Will pressure washing damage my windows?
Not the way we do it — windows never get direct high pressure, and they get a fresh-water rinse at the end so detergent does not dry into haze. Old, failed window seals (fogged double panes) exist before we arrive; we point them out when we see them.
Why is there black stuff on my white gutters that soap won’t remove?

What are the small black dots stuck to my siding?
Almost always artillery fungus, fired from hardwood mulch beds. Fresh spots mostly release with treatment; old baked-on spots can leave permanent specks. Switching to pine straw or rubber mulch stops the supply.
My house was washed last year and it’s green again. Why?
Whoever washed it rinsed the stain off without killing the organism — the splash-and-dash signature. Detergent-based soft washing kills the growth, which is why the clean holds for one to two years instead of one season.
