What Changes Across the Upstate
- Elevation and shade. Travelers Rest and the Paris Mountain side of Taylors hold moisture far longer than flatter ground south of the city, and need a shorter cycle.
- Housing age. Powdersville is nearly all under fifteen years old and deals with pollen film and efflorescence. Older Greer, Taylors and Fountain Inn homes need low pressure and paint checks.
- HOA enforcement. Five Forks and newer Simpsonville communities enforce exterior covenants actively. Older Mauldin and Taylors neighborhoods are lighter touch.
- Red clay. Worst toward Easley and Pickens County, present everywhere.
- Number of surfaces. Fountain Inn and Easley lots carry more fencing, outbuildings and driveway than the county average — quote the property, not the house.
